sea gulls and co.

I’m glad you are back. This post is on, as the post title insinuates, sea gulls. Some of you know I take a trip to Maine annually, so I am well acquainted with sea gulls because the house is right next to the water. They are interesting if you pay close attention to them. So many people don’t like them because they are carrion birds( birds that eat dead animals off of the road and stuff like that) and that they are cruel. Some  are actually able to speak short sentences.

Sea gulls are one of the most common sea birds having at least 45 different species, my focus is the common gull. They inhabit every continent. The common gull is mostly grey and white with black markings on the tip of the wings. The great black-backed and the herring gull are some others.

Sea gulls are scavengers, eating what they can find when they find it.They sometimes eat carrion, clams, lobsters, and small fish. they are clever birds, and they show how clever they are when they eat, they first find a large clam and find a long flat rock, fly over it and then SPLAT !!!!!!! the clam is destroyed. It happens because the clam Is pulling in so hard that the extra pressure from the out side  bursts the shell wide open leaving the clam defenseless against the hungry gull.

they are also among the most intelligent birds some even learning to speak. they clean up the beaches after careless tourists, clean the waters of eye-sore carcasses, and help eat the carcasses on the road. so remember the gulls are an important member of the clean up squad.

That’s it, tell me how you liked it or leave suggestions for future posts in the comment box. remember to be thankful always.

Parrots and their family

First of all I am going to start  blogging about animals since it is a subject that  holds my interest. I am going to try to post  about the more common animals. This post is on parrots. I hope yall enjoy it, and here goes.

Parrots are tropical birds and are found in most rainforests and jungles. There are many different kinds of parrots such as macaws, lories, cockatoos, and lorikeets. In all there are over 300 different species of parrot. They eat a wide variety of fruits, seeds, and nuts, using their strong beaks to break even the hardest nuts.

The parrot has amazing abilities, such as their feet with two toes pointing forward and two toes pointing back, which allows  them to scamper up trees quickly. The macaw has  an incredibly strong beak. Allowing it to crack even brazil nuts, which are known for their difficulty to crack.

They have very bright colors. Which would mean that they would be easy prey, right? Wrong, they have very painful defense methods. Such as pecking out their attackers eyeballs, and scratching them with their claws. They have very bright feathers in hues of red, green, blue, yellow, and sometimes even orange.

That's it, if you liked it please tell me, and make suggestions for future posts and remember god is always with you.

our garden

As some of you know we have a garden.

It is beneficial to us because it is (almost) organic, we can walk out to our yard to pick produce.

planting seeds

This year we are planting : onions, Swiss chard, radishes, beets, potatoes, pak choy, garlic, corn, tomatoes,  and sweet peas. We put lots of stuff in to the garden like wood shavings from the chicken coop, compost, ashes, and cow manure.  All these things fertilize the garden.

Then we tilled the soil to mix the stuff into the soil, to loosen the soil, and to give the plants soft soil to grow in. Some of  the plants have just sprouted. It is fun to have a back yard garden. Bye

Incubating Eggs

Sorry I have not blogged in a while.  We just started school, last week. We are schooling a friend too.

day old chicks

incubator

We have incubating 20 eggs, 6 have hatch so far. I got to watch two eggs hatch, it was amazing to watch them break a hole in the egg and then slowly break out.  We would let them dry off a bit in the incubator, and then we would moved them to the brooder.  Then we would show them how to drink.
It was so amazing to see a egg transform into a chick.
here is a video of a chick hatching

So good by for now and remember Jesus loves you
